https://heatherfullerphotography.com/sbbx037v OK, I’m being very melodramatic here, but from the time I piled out at Watford till the time I got home, I have never experienced such a buzz in a long long while. We knew it would change for the better that fateful day when Drillo signed, but until today we never truely experienced what is to be.

Attack wise, we were pretty good when we needed to be, JH doing some nice flicks, Gayle totally murdering the Watford RB and creating many chances to boot. Defensive wise, however, we begun very shaky, it was almost like last season (insofar as whenever somebody ran at us, we shat ourselves).

None the less, we struck first, with a cross by Gayle, flick on by JH leaving it to Cort to slot home after only 9 minutes. The 1200 or so Dons fans (not a full house, mainly because of the price – it weren’t 100% full with Watford either) went utterly barmed up. Of course, true to WFC style we started to sit back just a little, and as Watford came back, it was a bit backs-to-the-wall. Indeed, come the 16th minute, a Watford player broke loose in the box and was felled by Dean Blackwell.

https://twd4x4.com.au/bdyvqr0d8uz Now Dean is a goody-goody, probably the sort of guy who helps his mum with the shopping, but he received his first ever red card for it. So, no “cleanest player of the year” accolades for Deano next year, eh? Anyway, they equalised from the spot, and because they had the one man advantage they thought rather cockily that they would stroll it. Yeah, right, what colour’s the sun on YOUR planet?

https://mappinglondon.co.uk/2023/44ib98n It was then that we yanked M Hughes off, put Jupp on (who looked pretty good) and somehow we looked far more comfortable in defence, TP and KC especially. Still not really impressed by Kimble….. We pressed forward again, got a free-kick on edge of area, along comes Marcus Gayle and effortlessly puts it away. Yes, 2-1, a fucking great goal and further proof that we are now able to come back at teams…so the half ended.

Second half now, and it was a bit of an anti-climax. That said, we made a couple of runs into the box, they likewise, and it was heading for a bit of a nothing. Then, on 70 minutes, they scored, because our defence and Sully fell asleep and they crept in and slotted it home. Of course, they thought that they were going to get all three points, because we were bound to capitulate and they were more likely to score.

https://www.thiswildlifeofmine.com/o3i7e8n6 We pressed forward, crossed the ball in from the left, Chris Day (is a Tottenham reject) and the other Watford defender (Robert Page) sort of didn’t really know what to do, and the free standing ball was poked home by Page/Ardley/Kimble, depending on who you read. We were back in front, and Watford really just didn’t know how to come back if the truth was known. And so it finished 3-2, and boy were we happy. This seems to make up for all the shit of last year, and whilst it wasn’t our best ever, at least we can come back and score. Hey, I’m content.
